Solidarity actions on the occasion of the G7 summit in Cornwall

To draw attention to the ever worsening situation in Myanmar during the G7 summit, a call for action was issued under the slogan “Global Myanmar Spring Revolution” on June 12/13. From Australia to Canada, 25 countries in around 50 cities worldwide participated.

In addition to the recognition of the NUG (National Unity Government) as the legitimate government of Myanmar, the international community is called upon to guarantee the right to life and the physical and psychological integrity of the people of Myanmar, to work for the immediate release of political prisoners and to take effective measures to support the peaceful protest movements and their goals.

The initiative “German Solidarity with Myanmar Democracy” has again organized vigils and protest rallies in ten German cities on this day to show our solidarity to the people of Myanmar.

Also members of the Friends have again participated in actions in Berlin, Munich, Heidelberg and Frankfurt to express their solidarity with the friends, sponsored children and all people in Myanmar.

We do not give up hope that Myanmar will find its way back to democracy and that peace will finally return.
